Why Builders Should Be on Houzz (and how to use it!)

Houzz is a match made in heaven and an easy win for pool builders. Why? The membership base for Houzz is more purchase-ready than the other “Big 4” (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin). It doesn’t have the international fame as The Big 4, but that’s a good thing. It’s a purpose-driven tool for homeowners and it’s free to sign up. No other social site can compete with the laser-like focus of their member base. Users are there when they’re ready to buy, and they want to buy what they see on Houzz.

Houzz is a no-brainer for pool builders (or any home improvement business).  Here’s why:

  • It’s totally free and only takes 5 minutes to set up.
  • It was created by homeowners and for homeowners looking to spend money to upgrade their homes. Read that again! This is huge!
  • It helps improve your search engine rankings.
  • It will drive more traffic to your site.
  • Other pool builders are already using it to sell more pools.
  • Your competition is already there (and selling).

You know how some pool buyers will show you a folder spilling over with pictures of pools and pool features they like? How about a client who emails you pictures they’ve seen? Have they told you how many months (or years) they spent collecting these snippets? That folder or notebook or envelope is the heart and soul of their backyard dream.

Welcome to 2018. Houzz is now the folder that catalogs that dream.

Houzz makes it possible for homeowners to search and gather photos into a private collection called an “idea book.” They can view, update, and share their idea book anytime they want. Do you know where they get those photos?  Hopefully, from your Houzz profile. That is unless you haven’t claimed your Houzz profile and uploaded pictures of your best-looking projects. And if that’s the case, they’ll have no choice but to select photos from your competition instead.

Your Competition is Alread on Houzz

By the way, the photos on Houzz show specific information about that project like:

  • Who built the pool
  • Where the builder is located
  • The builder’s phone number
  • The business website

Of course, since this is a Social Media site, there will be comments from admiring gawkers (and maybe a few testimonials). Sounds good, right? Right!

I really can’t stress enough how much you need to get this done immediately. Not having this done should be making you nervous. It is completely free, takes five minutes to set up, and maybe 10 more minutes to upload your great photos. Here’s the link to get started.

To recap: It’s free, takes less than 20 minutes to get started, and it will help you sell more pools. Shouldn’t you be all over it?
